ARKADIA ADVICE · OPERATIONS

An arcade area’s profitability depends on game selection, placement and observing how visitors use it. No general model can replace visitor data from your own venue.

By the Arkadia Solutions team — experience in leisure centre operations and equipment selection.

Measure before moving or buying

Record visitor numbers by day and time slot, game duration, revenue per machine where available and downtime. These observations help distinguish problems with placement, visibility, appeal or maintenance.

Track revenue per square metre used, while allowing for the circulation space each game needs. A small, frequently used cabinet may contribute more than a poorly placed large game; the reverse may also be true if a larger format attracts new groups.

Build a complementary mix

An area made up only of long games can create queues. One made up solely of very short challenges may lack a focal point. Mix different game rhythms: simulators for immersion, shooting games, sports games, skill challenges and claw machines.

The right mix depends on families, groups of friends, younger players and visitors waiting for another activity. Observe what actually happens on site before replacing a machine.

Check each model’s dimensions in centimetres, the usable space around it and maintenance access. The product pages in the Arkadia catalogue help compare the initial space requirements.

Test, then adjust

Change one factor at a time: position, signs or the game mix. Then compare several similar weeks, taking account of holidays, weather and events. One weekend cannot establish a game’s lasting performance.

Read average spend and arcade usage alongside activity across the venue. A game may help extend a visit even when its direct revenue does not capture the full value of the area.

Frequently asked questions

When should I replace a game?

After checking its condition, location, clarity and fit with your audience. A fall in revenue on its own is not enough to decide.

How many games should I install?

There is no universal number. Start with usable space, your audience and visitor flow, while keeping circulation comfortable.
